Richard Matoian serves as President of American Pistachio Growers (APG), a trade association representing over 865 pistachio member growers from the states of California, Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada. APG conducts pistachio nutrition research, consumer education and domestic and international marketing and Public Relations activities. These activities account for 80% of the APG’s annual budget, which totaled $16.2 million in 2022. APG is also an advocate for growers at the state and federal levels, and works on a wide variety of issues that affect the growers’ economic bottom line. Matoian has served as APG’s President since May 2008.
