“Nut and Dried Fruit Consumption and Health: Studies That Will Shape the Knowledge”
As chair of the Nutrition Research Seminar, Prof. Salas will present the most important studies published during 2024 on the importance of nut and dried fruit consumption for health. He will also discuss large studies that are currently underway and are poised to shape medicine in the future. Finally, he will announce the objectives, participants, and scientific content of the NUTS 2025 international conference.
Prof. Salas is a Distinguished Professor of Nutrition and Director of the Human Nutrition Unit at Rovira i Virgili University (URV), as well as an ICREA Acadèmia Researcher. He is the Principal Investigator at CIBERobn and leads its Nutrition Program. He also directs the Catalan Center of Nutrition and chairs the INC World Forum for Nutrition Research and Dissemination. His research focuses on the impact of food and dietary patterns on obesity, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and cardiovascular diseases. He is a leader of PREDIMED and PREDIMED-Plus, large clinical trials on cardiovascular disease prevention. Prof. Salas has published more than 900 scientific articles with more than 45,500 citations and an H-index of 104. He has authored 17 books, mentored 40 PhD students, and is recognized as one of the world’s most influential researchers by Clarivate Analytics and Stanford University.
