The 2024 INC On-site Technical Visit offered an up-close look at California’s Central Valley. By visiting orchards, processing plants, and more, attendees learned first-hand what made this quintessential producing region tick.

The program promised to provide insight into the entire supply chain. Confirmed visits included Wonderful Pistachios, Sun-Maid Growers of California, The Hulling Company, Qcify, Almond Board of California’s Salida Almond Variety Trial, Land IQ, Pomona Farming, Diamond Foods, the California Walnut Commission & Board, and TOMRA.

The On-site Technical Visit was open to students of the INC Academia Advanced Full Course, INC Academia Alumni, and participants of the INC Congress in Vancouver. The fee for the On-site Technical Visit included networking sessions and site visits inclusive of transportation, lunches and refreshments, one evening dinner, course materials, and a certificate of attendance. Accommodation and transportation to and from the event, as well as dinner on the first and second evenings, were not included. Hotel recommendations for the visit were sent to registered participants soon.

Please note that to safeguard the businesses involved in the program of the INC On-site Technical Tour, individual companies reserved the right to deny admission to any person.

Participants warmed up for a fruitful INC Congress with a day of outdoor fun in the company of industry peers! This popular event was held from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm on May 7, the day before the INC Congress began. This year’s Golf Day took place at the iconic Furry Creek Golf and Country Club, known as “British Columbia’s Most Scenic Golf Course”. Situated on the slopes of the Coast Mountains, the course featured 18 holes and measured 6,641 yards from the back tees.

For the tennis aces among attendees, the Tennis Day was a must-attend occasion. Set against the backdrop of the city’s most iconic location—Stanley Park Tennis Courts. Nestled within this beloved green oasis, the park provided a picturesque and diverse environment, ensuring an unforgettable experience. Participants were advised to read the guidelines for the Golf or Tennis experience they had signed up for.

ACCOMPANYING PERSON TOURS

Take an adventure through iconic Vancouver locations

Capilano Suspension Bridge & Granville Island 

The tour will start with a journey across the iconic Lions Gate Bridge, a suspension bridge originally built by the Guinness family famed for its Irish stout. This will be followed by a guided tour to the Capilano Suspension Bridge, a 140-meter-long bridge crossing the Capilano River in the District of North Vancouver.  Walk through a rainforest canopy with Treetops Adventure and experience an adrenaline-pumping walk above the canyon with Cliffwalk.

The last stop will be Granville Island, in this little oasis in the middle of Vancouver participants will enjoy a foodie tour. The market is a hotspot for chefs and food enthusiasts, featuring a dazzling array of top-notch produce such as bakeries, quality butcheries, cheese havens, and other local goodies that make Granville Island a must-visit for anyone with a taste for Canada’s local delights!

The tour will start at 9:00 am and end at 3:30 pm.

Vancouver Art Gallery, Bill Reid Gallery & Stanley Park

Experience the vibrant cultural tapestry of Vancouver on a tour that blends art and nature. Participants will tour both the Vancouver Art Gallery, recognized as one of North America’s most innovative visual arts institutions which focuses on historical and contemporary art from British Columbia and around the world and the Bill Reid Gallery, a unique destination that celebrates the extraordinary diversity of contemporary Indigenous Northwest Coast Art where participants will immerse themselves in a vibrant cultural experience.

Following the visit to the galleries, the tour will include a stop at Stanley Park to visit the famous totem poles and Prospect Point and will end with a group lunch at The Teahouse in Stanley Park, which offers unforgettable breathtaking views of the English Bay and the North Shore Mountains.

The tour will start at 9:30 am and end at 3:30 pm.
