Hari Nair heads Western India Cashew Company, a third-generation family business, which is the leading Indian exporter of value-added cashew products. WIC also processes and supplies other nuts as ingredients and in consumer packs. Its subsidiary, Phuong Tay Foods, packs and exports cashews in bulk from Vietnam.
Hari has chaired the CEPCI (Cashew Export Promotion Council of India) and INC’s Global Cashew Council. He led the team that finalized the current UN-ECE Standard for Cashew Kernels. He is the AFI’s Envoy for India and a member of the National Food Processing Committee of the Confederation of Indian Industry.
Hari organized a highly cited study on 300 Type-2 diabetic subjects, which showed that cashew consumption may increase healthy HDL cholesterol and reduce blood pressure and inflammatory markers.
