Edson Roberto Neto Ortiz holds qualifications as a biologist (UNIVALE), agricultural technician (ETA), hydrology technician (IPH-UFRGS), specialist in food technology (UNISC), agribusiness entrepreneur (USEN), specialist in business training (UFSM) and specialist in soils and plant nutrition (USP-ESALQ). He also holds a Master’s Degree in Energy, Environment and Materials (ULBRA) and an MBA in Agribusiness (USP-ESALQ). He is the Director of Divinut Indústria de Nozes Ltda, a company with 25 years of experience, which has a pecan seedling nursery and the largest pecan shelling plant in the southern hemisphere. He has worked with walnut trees and pecan nuts for 35 years, having participated in dozens of research projects on the subject in Brazil and elsewhere. He has given hundreds of courses and lectures in Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. He is the author of several technical articles and book chapters on walnuts and pecan trees. He serves as Director of the Brazilian Association of Nuts and Chestnuts (ABNC), Director of the Agribusiness Department (DEAGRO) at the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (FIESP), and member of the Management Committee of the Pró-Pecã RS Program.
