  • LIMBUA Group Limited: LIMBUA is a German-Kenyan social enterprise, which trades and processes organic macadamias, dried mango, avocado oil and coffee from Kenyan smallholders. We work closely with more than 7,000 smallholders in the Kenyan highland at the foot of Mount Kenya. LIMBUA’s approach is comprehensive: One goal is to improve the rural Kenyan population’s standard of living by bringing smallholders’ harvest to the international market without middlemen, leaving as much added value as possible in the country. Another goal is to protect nature by preventing land degradation, preserving biodiversity and protecting the climate. To reach these goals, LIMBUA covers the supply chain, starting at the tree nursery, via the consulting and supervision… [Read more]
  • Kenya Nut Company Limited: Fertilisers play a crucial role in enhancing food security and feeding approximately half of the global population. Most of the world’s fertilisers are produced in large plants in developed countries, requiring a complex, expensive, and unreliable supply chain to reach farmers in sub-Saharan Africa. The growing demand for fertilisers and volatile input costs has driven historic price increases and volatility, even in the developed world. Products must travel long distances before they reach the farmers, generating significant upstream carbon emissions, and experiencing high lead times, disrupting supply chains and limiting crop yields. It’s estimated that 2% of all carbon emissions worldwide is emitted by the production of grey ammonia… [Read more]
  • Masterpack Group: Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) by Masterpack Group is a transformative preservation method that adjusts the gas composition within packaging to significantly enhance product shelf life and maintain quality. By fine-tuning the levels of gases such as carbon dioxide, which retards bacterial growth, and optimizing oxygen levels to prevent microbial proliferation and oxidative reactions that lead to spoilage or color changes, MAP sets a new standard in product preservation. Distinct from vacuum packaging, which removes all oxygen, MAP strategically balances oxygen and carbon dioxide levels tailored to specific products. This bespoke atmosphere dramatically improves longevity without entirely eliminating… [Read more]
